Buenos Dias TSL Universe....

Thank God its week #9. This season has been a trying one as things have not been easy. The weather has been hit and miss but luckily we are almost at the end of the ride. Next week we will begin the battle for social co ed immortality.  Most teams are in but for a few its put up or shut up time.

Where do we go from here? What will happen next? Who will get in and who will have to spend all summer trying to figure out how it all went so woefully wrong?

Let's pick some games......

DIVISION #1

 33 SPEAKEASY VS THREAD +1: THREAD has been hit and miss and could suffer from being off for a while. If I were D1 I would keep my eyes on 33 Speakeasy as they seem to be getting hot at the right time. Their defense is starting to settle down and they are scoring in bunches. They are one team you do not want to see in the playoffs as they bring all kinds of match up headaches. This game should be a good one as each team knows the other quite well. I expect another close one this week.  33 SPEAKEASY BY 3

#XTC +6 VS BOMBERS:Simply put Bombers can play with any team in this league when Bloomfield is in the line up. No Bloomfield equals no Bombers win.  #XTC has been an up and down squad. They are having attendance issues but still bring a decent team out each and every week. If Bloomfield shows up and you would think he will he is literally un-coverable and Bombers will win if he doesn't #XTC will roll in this one as they have the edge literally everywhere else.    BOMBERS BY 6

VARSITY BLUES VS HOSTILE TAKEOVER +4: VB has started to wake up but they also have faced Bombers without Bloomfield and an Eyes Downtown team without Schriever, Joey or Houser. VB has done a decent job on both sides of the ball settling things down. HT is an up and down squad that has talent but must get more from their QB who has not looked overly impressive the past few weeks. Taylor needs to quit taking so many risks and dumb down the playbook to just let his players make simple plays. These two squads match up well this should be a good one. VARSITY BLUES BY 3

PUBLIC ENEMY VS EYES DOWNTOWN PICK EM: Last time out these two teams had at it in a barn burner. ED did a great job of hitting their girls on quick 6-8  yd drags and slants . Will the PE defense be stubborn once again to adjust to this game plan? ED brings a speed mismatch that can fluster the PE offense from time to time. PE has the girl edge but the speedsters of ED can take this game over. These two teams are very equal in every facet of the game this one should be close.  I PREDICT A TIE

DIVISION  #2

NO MOHR DUBEY VS WITTERS +4: NMD has looked pretty decent the past few weeks while Witters seems to have slumped a tad down the stretch. Witters will have a big girl edge in this game and should use it early and often. NMD has the speed edge in this one while the size goes to Witters. This game should be a good one as both teams are very solid, smart and they know this game well. This should be an enjoyable game that should be decided in the last few minutes.   NO MOHR DUBEY BY 3

BAD APPLES VS GRAY AND ASSOCIATES +7: GNA has been up and down all session as they seem to be getting old and don't always have their key people. BA started off so bad but really seem to be getting hot at the right time. BA have play makers all over the field they just need to play smart and refuse to get stubborn. If BA takes the field and make simple gains and doesn't get overly cocky or stubborn they should take this game by days end.  BAD APPLES BY 6

TIGHT ENDS IN MOTION VS ANGRY BUFFALO +6: AB was the talk of the town the first 6 weeks of the season but something weird has started to happen...they are starting to look dreadful on both sides of the ball. The offense does not seem to be in rhythm the wrs are dropping balls and the D does not look as good as in weeks past. TEIM is a machine right now as they continue to show up, play smart ball ,stay disciplined and walk away week after week with W's.  TEIM is playing AB at the perfect time. These two better get a real good look at the other as they could be seeing each other again real soon.  TIGHT ENDS IN MOTION BY 6

THE REPLACEMENTS VS PRIME TIME PLAYAS +8: TR are a team no team wants a part of in round #1 of the playoffs. They are starting to get hot and could shock someone next week. PTP has been dreadful but showed serious signs of life last week. They wont shock anyone in round #1 but they will play you tough and you will have to work to win. TR should take this game as they are starting to play better D and they are getting just enough on O to carry. The TR QB throws a decent deep ball but really needs to improve on his short throws as they are dreadful and kills his offense week after week. THE REPLACEMENTS BY 7

DIVISION #3

HK3 +10 VS BULLET CLUB: HK3 is really bad and Bullet Club needs this win. This game in theory doesn't even matter Bullet Club has one thing on its mind and one thing only.  Bullet Club must beat Cobblestone or their season is done like dinner. Regardless BC wins this game and they win it big.  BULLET CLUB BY 9

STICKY BANDITS VS MICKEY RATS +7: MR has been woefully bad the past few weeks and Sticky Bandits continue to get better and better week after week. For some reason I cant put my finger on they play alot like TEIM they just show up and play smart football. MR will need all hands on deck to have a chance. I am pretty sure Sticky can still move up in the standing with some wins Saturday. MR is toast unless their QB shows. If they have the back up its lights out. STICKY BANDITS BY 7

GRYFFINDOR +3 VS 1 TOPPER TOO MANY: Team Topper did not look overly impressive last week and that is cause for concern. A desperate for wins Gryffindor is next up. The Gryff has Team Topper out gunned at every corner. They have the better QB they have more speed and Joey Batts out icons Topper nearly 3-1.  Topper must step up and he must find a way to will his team to victory. I know I didn't have much faith in the last statement as well. This game is huge and is a confidence booster for both.  GRYFFINDOR BY 3

COBBLESTONE VS BULLET CLUB PICK EM: This could be one of the biggest games of the century. Joe K vs Darryl Carr QB Superstar for all the marbles. Darryl Carr QB Superstar is a man among men, a league icon, a star that shines bright on an other wise dreary day. Joe K has ascended the ranks quicker than any other TSLer in history. He might be a bigger star than B's Brother at this point. Yes I understand the gravity and the magnitude of the statement I just made. But its true...its damn true. As for the game I expect an instant classic between two teams that will bring everything they have and more to the table. Each team must win this game there is no tomorrow . It's win and your in.... So who wins? Well that's easy I expect this.............

SATURDAYS ARE FOR THE GIRLS +6 VS DMX: SAFTG are lurking in the weeds. You never know what they are up to or who will be in this weeks line up. DMX laid the smacketh downeth on Team Topper last week. They rake on offense and can make it rain. SAFTG must be ready to go on defense. Problem here is DMX will turn this into a track meet and that's fine but SAFTG are not set up for the track meet. They are mudders that need to win a 28-23 type of team. If this game goes into the 30's or 40's its night night SAFTG.  DMX BY 6

SHOWTIME VS COBBLESTONE +7: Like HK3 vs Bullet Club this game means nothing to Cobblestone if they lose at 9am.  As for the game Ricky Austin has Showtime dialed in as they sit at 6-1. Showtime should have enough on both sides of the ball to overcome the icon edge that Cobblestone brings to the table each and every week. Showtime has a little more speed as well. CS will have a girl edge but they probably are lacking in the speed department this week.  SHOWTIME BY 8

SHOWTIME VS STICKY BANDITS +1: I'm fairly certain there still is a way that Sticky Bandits could end up in 1st place by days end. They need alot of help and they must go into the valley of death and go heads up with Ricky FN Austin. SB is a solid smart and disciplined team but so is Ricky. Sticky Bandits have solid speed and decent girls but so does Ricky. Sticky Bandits has a solid defense but so does Ricky. There really is only one thing that Showtime has that Sticky Bandits doesn't....Showtime has Ricky Sticky doesn't......SHOWTIME BY 3

DIVISION #4

BREW CREW +11 VS WHY SO SERIOUS: WSS is cruising right along without a worry in the world. They are crushing folks on both sides of the ball. Their girls are killing it their QB is dialed in and their guys make plays each and every week. B Crew is playing for their playoff lives but the schedule guy is being mean saving WSS for last. WSS probably takes this game and D4 in 2 weeks if you ask me.  WHY SO SERIOUS BY 10

A&A VS AARP +7:  I would normally take A&A by like 20 but AARP is starting to show signs of life and have had a very decent session to date. They have improved on both sides of the ball and are now  a very respectable team in D4. A&A are about where you would expect them. They always are up and down during the season then they always kick their game up a nickel by playoffs. I expect AARP to give them a fight  but by games end I expect A&A to roll. A&A BY 6

HOMETECH +7 VS FULL THROTTLE: Hometech started off so bad but after they got fired up by the Keller Clan it has been game on as they have improved by leaps and bounds. Hometech V 3rd and Schlong must happen it has happen the people want it. As for this game FT is a decent squad that is solid on both sides of the ball. FT will be a tough team for HT to slow down as they have size speed and tremendous balance. I fear HT will not have the horses in this one.  FULL THROTTLE BY 8

PASSLESS CHAPS +7 VS INDECENT EXPOSURE: PC have had a very very tough session and they need as trip to D5. IE looked so solid in D5 but has had some injuries and is still learning their way in D4. I expect IE to improve by leaps and bounds by fall and be right back at the top of the mix. PC really has no chance in this one. IE can still sneak into the dance but they needs wins and help.  INDECENT EXPOSURE BY 6

DIVISION #5

DEMBOYZ +1 VS 3RD AND SCHLONG:  3rd and Schlong has looked good lately as they are scoring and winning. I also heard from a guy who knows a guy who has a cousin that has a friend that knows this chick that said Katie Keller is really good at football. Demboyz are a solid squad. They are a gender team in the truest sense of the word. They trot 5 young ladies out there and play 5 /1. Unlike some of the "other gender teams" Demboyz have at it with a true female QB and this girl can throw. Demboyz play a very smart methodical game and 3rd and Schlong better be careful. Demboyz will not go very long but they will dunk and dunk you all over the field. This game should be a good one. 3RD AND SCHLONG BY 1

CUPCAKE VS CHIX N DIX +17: Cupcake could be the only thing standing in the way of the Bambs and their plans of world domination in D5. Cupcake has stars all over the field and they might be the only chance this division has left. This game is nothing more than a tune up for them. CND is struggling and should be in D6. Cupcake will score early and often and win this game big. CUPCAKE BY 14

HOPE N RUIN VS SHAKE N BAKE STAMPEDE +8:There were those that wondered quietly if HNR could hang in D5 and if their win over AWDIQ was fluke. Well guess what? They can hang in D5 and their win over AWDIQ in the D6 finals was no fluke!!! This team is dialed in and looks right at home. They are balanced on both sides of the ball and they can play. SNB is 3-3 and they have shown flashes of brilliance but they have also struggled. This a big game for both with playoffs quickly approaching. I'm beginning to think  HNR still has a little bit more to show us before seasons end.   HOPE N RUIN BY 7

THE BAMBS VS SANTORAS' +9: The Bambs are still the peoples champion. They are big, they are smart, they are balanced and they have Yacos and Yacos is really good. TB are mowing down opponents with an offense that appears to have been sent from the future. They are doing things never seen before. Their formations are cutting edge their execution is impressive. Could this finally be their time? Santora's are traditionally a pretty solid team but to be honest they have really struggled this session. The Bambs (all 17 of them)will show up and probably run them over. THE BAMBS BY 10

IRON BUTTERFLIES +7 VS ALL WE DO IS QWINN: All Qwinn is doing these days in D5 is struggle. They aren't the same team they were last year. IB is having a typical IB session but they did get a huge win last week. IB continues to struggle on offense but they are doing better as they stand at 2-5.  AWDIQ is faster and should take this game. If AWDIQ doe not take this game then there would be tremendous cause for concern with the franchise. ALL WE DO IS QWINN BY8

DIVISION #6

MATTY'S ANGELS VS RSS LADIES +7: If both teams came into this game at 100% I would have picked MA by about 6-8 points. I am hearing rumors MA will be extremely shorthanded so I won't. RSS Ladies needs this game as they still are in the middle of the pack in D6. MA really doesn't as they have the 2 seed sown up. Both squads are solid but MA usually has a big defensive edge they might not this week. This game should be entertaining as gender games usually are.  RSS LADIES BY3

THE PRACTICE SQUAD +10 VS ACE: ACE is as dialed in as a team in D6 has ever been. They aren't just beating folks they are literally taking their will to live away. They are solid on defense and they are scoring at will. It appears that Matty's Angels might be the only team that can stop this juggernaut right now and I am not even sure they can either. TPS will be a good team in time. They have skill but they are a fish out of water right now as they just don't get the game. In time they will. ACE will score alot and TPS will learn a little bit more than they knew the week before.  ACE BY 14

SANTAS SECRET SAUCE VS CELINO SEWER RATS +1:  SSS has been an up and down roller coaster. They have solid players. They know the game. They just cant get it to translate on a consistent basis for 50 minutes. CSR are and up and down team themselves but they have held the D6 title high even though they have had alot of roster turnover. SSS was supposed to be a team to keep your eye on but I for one and beginning to wonder if the window is slowly starting to shut down. SANTAS SECRET SAUCE BY 1

FOOTBALLS DEEP +13 VS THE MCKENZIE AGENCY: TMA started off on fire but hasn't exactly been the same team the past few weeks. The good news for them is a struggling FD comes to town. FD is a hot mess that struggles to score and just cant seem to stop anyone. Look for TMA to score early and often in route to an easy victory. THE MCKENZIE AGENCY BY 14

COLLEGIATE SOLAR +7 VS THE TOMMY HUGHES EXPERIENCE : THE seems to be gaining steam down the stretch as they not only are improving on the field they are improving off of it. CS has actually shown better than in years past. Their defense finally looks sorta fixed and they are scoring points. Matter of fact they are 2-4-1. THE needs this game and they need it bad. I expect a solid game from THE in route to a decent victory. THE TOMMY HUGHES EXPERIENCE BY 6

5 QUESTIONS FOR SATURDAY

1. Is Showtime heading for the #1 seed or will Ricky be Sticky by days end? Sticky Bandits and Showtime have at it for what could conceivably be first place by days end. Both squads are hot and continue to play solid football. Either one could easily be the favorite in D3 by days end. Both squads play a shockingly similar style. 

2.. Will Matty Ice take the bait? There is some cheesy rumor floating around that RSS Ladies are trying to coax Matty's Angels into playing true gender rules this week. I for one think Matty Ice should do whatever he wants to do as there is no rule stating anything otherwise. 

3.  Will The Tommy Hughes Experience continue back to their old ways of being the fun team or will they revert back to mean THE? THE has looked good recently and folks are beginning to wonder if they are a D6 dark horse.  

4.  Is DMX the D3 dark horse right now? They have beaten Team Topper and Sticky Bandits in 2 of the last 3 weeks and seem to be getting hot at the right time. Many folks forget this was the team that made it to last sessions D3 final. I would keep my eyes on DMX if I played in D3.....

5. What must Angry Buffalo be thinking right now? They have lost 2 in a row and have a huge game this week against a team that could beat them for their 3rd loss in 3 weeks. They started off so well but have struggle mightily lately. There have been stories of past late season collapses for this proud franchise. Are they destined to crash again? Stay tuned...

10 final thoughts before game day

1.  The game I have my eye on this week is in D3 where we are heading for one of the greatest battles in recent memory. It's Bullet Club V Cobblestone for all the marbles. The winner gets the 8th and final ticket to the D3 dance. The loser goes home mad and must wonder all summer what they can do to fix their woes.  This game should be bedlam. 

2.  Tale of 2 teams heading in different directions this week when Tight Ends in Motion has at it with Angry Buffalo. TEIM is dialed in and look to continue on their winning ways. AB has been dreadful the past few weeks and needs to circle the wagons and circle them fast. One would think the winner of this game instantly becomes the D2 favorite as we head towards the dance next week. 

3.  Public Enemy and Eyes Downtown went to war a few weeks ago and must once again have at it . Last time out both squads had good stretches and awful stretches in a game that ended in a tie. These two teams have never gotten along so many eyes will be on them not only to see what they bring to the table but to make sure each keeps their cool this Saturday. 

4.  Brew Crew and Indecent Exposure will be battling and score board watching all day as each team is fighting for the final D4 playoff spot. If you ask me it's IE's ticket to punch. Actually IE could jump Hometech and CFB as well but alot would need to happen. Brew Crew could be on the outside looking in by days end. 

5 If you like star power look no further than Gryffindor V Team Topper this week. D3 has alot of moving parts right now as a bunch of different squads could be anywhere from the 1-4 seeds by days end. Joey Batts knows better than anyone that Gryffindor does not finish well like EVER. He must be wondering to himself if another late season collapse is coming and if it does will he take the ball from Brother Nero and throw the whole team on his back? He probably is the only person in this league that could win an MVP at both WR and QB in one season. 

. 

6.  I am very curious to see how the Demboyz and 3rd and Schlong game turns out. I was very impressed with how methodical and disciplined Demboyz were vs the Bambs before the injury last week. 3rd and Schlong better be ready to play as Demobyz will dink and dunk them up and down the field if they are not careful. One must now wonder if Kevin Keller will be able to properly concentrate with all the ladies running around the field Saturday. 

7. If I had to take a guess in breakfast club I would say: Val Pals 33 Nice TDS 12  Subtle Chelsies 32 Angry Tailors 20

8.  Santa's Secret Sauce is up against it this week. They have not been overly impressive to date and must face Celino Sewer Rats. If SSS wants to be in the conversation they need to make a statement this week. I'm still thinking no one gets in the way of Matty's Angels and ACE but SSS could surprise someone but they need to get tighten the ship especially on defense. 

9.  I think AARP vs A&A could be a better game than normal. Both have winning records as AARP looks light years ahead of where they were last year. Now is about the time where A&A starts to get into playoff mode and kicks their game up a nickel. I am very curious to see how this game turns out.
