September 9,2017

An important date if you are a fan of the TSL.  On September 9 in the year of our Lord 2017 (54) teams once again begin the chase towards social co-ed football immortality:

They said it wouldn't last yet here we still stand

On 9-9-17 the journey will begin, We will laugh and we will cry. We will start one way but most definitely finish another.  New stars will emerge and will join the likes of Chet, Boccio and B's Brother others will take their places next to the greats of the game like Darryl Carr QB superstar, Joey Batts and Chris Cole. New villains will emerge that we will love to hate. Who knows we might even see this years next TSL power couple. What savvy vet or team from the ashes will take us on one more magical ride?

Where do we go from here? What happens next? I've said it once and will say it again...I honestly have no clue but at this point your job is just to sit back and enjoy the ride......

Lets take a look at all these teams first before we go full projection mode.  I've decided to handicap the field in week #1 then go back to our normal format in week #2.

DIVISION #1

EYES DOWNTOWN 2-1

PUBLIC ENEMY 3-1

MARKETING MAYORS 5-1

CHAD STUFF 6-1

#XTC 8-1

RACKS AND SACKS 10-1

BOMBERS 15-1

NEW GODS 20-1

THE PURGE 25-1

WHAT'S NEW: Right about now would be a good time to mention that 33 Speakeasy and Varsity Blues have left the fold. Congrats and thanks to both squads for all the memories. There are rumors swirling Matty Mohr has joined Eyes Downtown. If he has this makes them the favorite right out of the gate. Public Enemy will be back but could struggle now that Cheryl one of the best girls in the game is injured this session. It appears the rumors are true as Darrick Bloomfield AND Joey Montesanti will be playing together in the fall with Chad Stuff.  If the rumors are true former UB star Alex Neutz will be joining Taylor Seketurski and Shari on the Purge. It looks like Travis finally found his way to D1. It appears Racks and Sacks will feature QB gun slinger Mike Radon along with former Hostile Takeover  main stay Glen Bird.  I don't have confirmation but it appears Rameer and Ricky Austin have hooked up on a new project called New Gods heading towards a D1 field near you this Saturday. #XTC lost their QB which really isn't that big of a deal but the big deal is rumors are swirling Kedron and Nikki have signed on this session. But the question still must be asked who is playing QB for #XTC?

Way too early title game prediction: Eyes Downtown VS  Marketing Mayors.

DIVISION #2

ANGRY BUFFALO 3-1

GRAY AND ASSOCIATES 5-1

NWO 6-1

TIGHT ENDS IN MOTION 8-1

BLITZKREIG 9-1

THE REPLACEMENTS 10-1

WITTERS 12-1

DMX 15-1

WHAT'S NEW: Angry Buffalo took the D2 crown and decided to stay in D2 as they claim Delano will not be playing in the fall.  GNA had a very decent season that ended with a berth in the D2 title game. Everyone can't wait to see who they dust off this time. I mean Patterson and Devon came back why not bring back Robby or Micah or Joy back while they are at it. NWO is a new team that features the Worm who makes his triumphant return. I saw Mariano's names on the NWO roster. Yes ,like you, I have crossed my fingers hoping nay praying that the icon one Ricky Mariano returns to the fold. Recckio and Austin can boast all they want but Ricky F'N Mariano is the greatest Ricky of all time if you ask me. TEIM and Blitzkreig should both put in solid rosters. TEIM had a very solid session last year but must get more from their QB if they are to take the next step.  Witter's are a solid team top to bottom that just play the game the way it was supposed to be played. They don't get caught up in arms races and stacking rosters. When you play Witters you better bring your lunch box and get ready to go to work.  DMX crushed D3 and might take some time to get used to the speed of the D2 game. I am quite certain the Replacements will not be a 2 win team this session and could surprise some folks come playoff time.

Way too early title game prediction: NWO vs Gray and Associates

DIVISION #3

1 TOPPER TOO MANY 5-1

GRYFFINDOR 6-1

PRIME TIME PLAYERS 7-1

A&A 8-1

STICKY BANDITS 10-1

MICKEY RATS 12-1

BULLET CLUB 15-1

COBBLESTONE 25-1

WHAT'S NEW: D3 is easily the best division in TSL.  It also is the division the stars play in as it features Darryl Carr QB superstar, Joey Batts, Topper and Matty Ice just to name a few. The rivalries will be intense. One of the biggest games on the schedule this session has to be A&A vs Bullet Club, but will Bullet Club once again have attendance issues? Many people are questioning Darryl for staying in D3 after a lack luster finish in the Spring but one can only imagine what he has up his sleeve this session. Drew almost left the Topper but finally decided to stay and rumors are swirling the female calvary is coming. PTP should settle in nicely as they are a decent D3 team and they also have multiple screws loose so they should fit in just fine. Perhaps the biggest rumor of the season to date has been confirmed Joey Batts will be back under center for Gryffindor. Many people are quietly saying that this could be the year of the Gryff and Joey Batts time with the TSL over all MVP. And what of the Topper. He knows better than anyone that the clock is ticking on his right arm and the end is almost certainly near. The question must be asked though, did the whole "Drew thing" tick Topper off or is he glad to have him back? Now that Ricky Austin has left for D1 is there any doubt who the best Ricky in D3 is? Sticky Bandits have been a solid franchise in TSL and could easily be hoisting the trophy come Turkey Day. Mickey Rats had flashes of brilliance last session but faded down the stretch. Will we see the good Micky Rats or the Bad Micky Rats this session?

Way too early title game prediction: Gryffindor vs Prime Time Players

DIVISION #4

SHREDDERS 5-1

SATURDAYS ARE FOR THE GIRLS 6-1

HOMETECH 8-1

AARP 10-1

RYAN PUCKETT MEMORIAL ALL STARS 12-1

THE BAMBS 13-1

HK4 15-1

INDECENT EXPOSURE 18-1

NO PUNT INTENDED 25-1

3RD AND SCHLONG 30-1

WHAT'S NEW: 3rd and Schlong will play Hometech at some point this session  and it will be glorious. Props to 3rd and Schlong for coming up to D4 just to do that. Rumors are swirling that Why So Serious broke up and have split but many of the old WSS people are now on Shredders. It was nice to see The Bambs and RPMAS make the jump after stellar seasons in D5 last session, both should fit in nicely in D4. AARP had a magical run last session now they will need to prove it was not a fluke. Indecent Exposure is a solid team that was riddled with injuries last session. If they get everyone back at 100% they could be a surprise team this season. HK3 just flat out didn't work here's hoping HK4 has better luck this session. It seemed like yesterday that HK1 came to town and ran over D4.  SAFTG jumped down a division and many wonder if the JZ Garbacz honeymoon is over. SAFTG shocked the world in last sessions playoffs and might be one of the favorites in D4 this season.

Way too early title game prediction: Shredders VS Saturdays are for the Girls

DIVISION #5

UNCLE RICO'S TIME TRAVELERS 5-1

HUNG BUFFALO 6-1

COME FROM BEHIND 6-1

MATTY'S ANGELS 8-1

HOPE N RUIN 8-1

ALL WE DO IS QWINN 9-1

MADISON LEE'S 10-1

ACE 10-1

SHAKE N BAKE STAMPEDE 10-1

BACK THAT PASS UP 12-1

PASSLESS CHAPS 15-1

WHAT'S NEW: So ACE and the Angels made the jump but aren't playing? Like seriously WTF....that can't be a thing can it? These two teams must play each other, they need to play each other as the world wants it.  Madison Lee is another new gender team that has jumped into the race.  Hung Buffalo had a bad season last year and will look to bounce back as many folks don't remember that this is a former 2x champ in this league. CFB has to be getting close to the end but in this division they have just a good a chance as anyone. Could the aging vets take us on one more magical ride? Wait didn't I say that like 4 seasons ago?  D5 looks like a D6 reunion of sorts with AWDIQ HNR and ACE all together again. SNB has one of the better players in the game you have never heard of could this finally be their time to break out and shine? Uncle Rico is a Jon Senn spin off that did pretty well last year with the Ricky team. Now that Ricky is gone how will they fare?

Way too early title game prediction: Matty's Angels VS ACE (we need to play this game)

DIVISION #6

TOMMY HUGHES EXPERIENCE 3-1

THE TAMMY'S 4-1

UFO 5-1

CELLINO SEWER RATS 8-1

THE MCKENZIE AGENCY 10-1

SANTA'S SECRET SAUCE 12-1

THE PRACTICE SQUAD 15-1

COLLEGIATE SOLAR 25-1

WHAT'S NEW: ACE and the Angels have headed for higher ground so that means the rest of the division has a fighting chance finally. This division should be bedlam as a number of teams can win it all.  The Tammy's are back and make this division epic just by their mere presence. UFO just didn't work out in D5 but should settle in nicely in D6.  Could all those years of suffering finally pay off with a shiny new D6 trophy for their mantles? And what of McKenzie Agency? They have quickly become fan favorites sans one player but can they all get on the same page and finally have their time in the winners circle? If they win instead of champagne will Ferger come up with some magical moon shine flavor never seen before?  SSS has had an up and down history themselves. Can they just get a QB to go with all the solid talent they boast and somehow take the title? If they do will Scinta have a dance party on the 50 yard line and at half time drop some havarti dill on each and every one of us? The Practice Squad is still young but very talented at some point their youth will mature and they will be a force to be reckon with but is that day here or on the horizon? Solar is well....they are a Solar and we still love them all the same...I really hope that chick who looked like she was on crack shows up again I heard she was really funny and bizarre I like funny and bizarre. Tommy Hughes Experience started off as a fun joke of sorts but at some point does the reality that a bunch of people in higher divisions can't even crack the D6 semis has to set in and they will make this right...right?

Way too early title game prediction: The Tammy's VS The Tommy's

5 QUESTIONS FOR SATURDAY

1.It's easy to ask the question who is going to be the "next big thing" but I want to know who is going to be the "next great villain?" Varsity is gone so a spot has just opened up for a team we love to hate. I am curious to see who takes the baton from here,.

2. Is D2 the best division in TSL? Many will say D1 is the best due to talent or D3 is the best because of all the star power but it looks to me like D2 is loaded with 8 teams that all could stake their claim to the D2 title this session. There does not seem to be a run away favorite in this division. Each team has stars and can easily win the title. This division might just come down to the QB......

3. Is D5 ready to play some football? You have some fiery teams in ACE, Hung Buffalo, HNR and Matty's Angels. You have 2 newbs in Madison Lee's and Uncle Rico. You have the vet savvy crew in Come From Behind. You have the kids in AWDIQ . This division should be a riot out of the gate as there are all kinds of "interesting" personalities in this division. I expect bedlam by season's end.

4. How much time does Come from Behind have left and more importantly now that the Bambs and Go Fumble Yourself have jumped to D4 does CFB have a date with the D5 title game?

5. OK I'll ask the question .....so it appears the "new thing" (which we squashed like a bug) was to try and stack your roster in D2 and bring in people with ex NFL or super college experience. Here's my question, why don't any of these ringers/teams have enough confidence in themselves to just come up and play in D1 to begin with? Let that sink in for a minute............

10 FINAL THOUGHTS

1.The game I have my eye on is in D3 where one of the better match ups of the season occurs. Team Topper has at it with Prime Time Players. After like 10 requests PTP has finally accepted our invitation for a trip down to D3.  They will enter D3 hopping mad and might put on a show for the ages. They have size, they have speed and most importantly they have Katie FN Salisbury who is crazy money.  Drew did some smacking on the pod cast if he wants the trophy he will have to kick his game up a nickel and win this game for his crew.

2. I am very curious to see how the newly led Travis team does this week with Marketing Mayors. Travis,to himself, has to be wondering if he has the game to hang with the big boys well this is his chance to see. Delecki and Andy Smith will bring all kinds of match up head aches for RAS. Travis and Co will have to cook up something special as two of the best players in the game are heading their way.

3. OK seriously SCHEDULE GODS WTF????  So you pull Matty's Angels and ACE up from D5. We all want them to have at it. Hell I'm sure these 2 would go at it in the parking lot if they had to then BOOM they don't play this session. I am crying foul on this one. TSL find a way to have ACE and Matty's Angels have at it even if its an exhibition for God's sake!!!!

4. D2 looks like a very competitive group this session. Rumors are swirling Angry Buffalo will not have Delano which was the biggest reason they stuck around in D2.   I am very interested to see if GNA has one more run left in the tank. The Replacements could surprise people this session.

5. If Chad Stuff is at 100% and that's a big if....I for one think Joey Monetsanti/Darrick Bloomfield VS Greg Chadwick and Jeff Farr could be one of the best match ups of the season. If Montesanti and Bloomfield show up they will be match up nightmares for all cover guys in D1. Both are extremely fast, have solid hands and decent height to out jump most defenders. Its pretty safe to say Farr and Chadwick will be in attendance Saturday but Bloomfield and Montesanti is a whole nother' story.

6. You have to love 3rd and Schlong. Yes they have the Keller clan who are already rock stars by nature but heavy props to a crew that finished OK last session in D5 but said F'IT WE WANT FN HOMETECH so they jumped a division. Hometech/3rd and Schlong will be one of the better match ups later this session.

7. Please check your emails and the rule book as there are now new rules for subs.  Please cement This email address is being protected from spambots. Please follow the rules or you don't get the sub period. We have had enough with the past practices of the inmates running the asylum. That stops now welcome to the future boys and girls.

8. I am very excited to see how D6 pans out this session. Last session was a tad lame as 2 teams were just heads and tails better than everyone else. I don't see a front runner anymore. D6 has once again become a very solid very competitive division that could be won by a handful of teams.

9. Like you I am very excited to see how the Matty Ice Cobblestone game pans out. Matty Ice has quickly become the people's champion. If you don't like Matty it's on you not him. On the other sideline the icon awaits. Darryl Carr QB Superstar did not have a very good season last year. To be honest after reviewing all the past game film I can say with 1000% certainty that the Cobblestone woes were all at WR and defense as the QB play was spectacular.  This match up could be something special as the past and the present meet the present and the future.

10. Before you take the field of battle this season please remember that alot of work is done both on and off the field to make this the best league of it's kind in this area. We do our best to accommodate schedule requests, we have a fully functional web site where we actually can spell and use sentences, we have a weekly podcast and we do our best to make this league as fun and entertaining as possible. Heck even to this day people talk about our banquets like they were nights of infamy. We try our best to educate our officials and have fun both on and off the field. Many of our players have met their husbands, wives, life partners and now have friends for life because of this league. I say all this as quite frankly some people in this league take things way too seriously and need to do a better job enjoying this league for what it is. High school and college is over people and too many of you don't realize there aren't many places you can still compete at your age. So enjoy this league for what it is. Yes at some point a ref will miss a call or something will not go your way but the ref doesn't hate you, nor does the league, just know that ref is trying his best and doesn't need you to belittle or yell at him over some silly game that kids play.  Some day this league won't be here anymore and this league will fade into obscurity. Maybe not today or tomorrow but in a year or maybe 5 you will look back one day and realize that you were a part of something special so please enjoy this league for what it is.  It is true this league is special because of its players but it is up to our players to set an example not just for today but for tomorrow.  I am sick of seeing people drinking outside booze like crazy people, complaining about every little thing and not showing sportsmanship both on and off the field. It is now time for each and every player in this league to listen to my words and make a conscious effort to make this league epic. Play like sportsmen on those fields and party like rock stars off it.  2 men have busted their butts and have built this place from the ground up and they have shown and will continue to show you the way to do things. It is now time for you to listen and take things to the next level and enjoy this league for what it is....because you never know when all this will be over. Hopefully you hear what I am telling you and understand the gravity of the moment at hand.  Because at the end of the day (sorry I just had to) this league is/was/and will always be something special. Please don't ever forget that..............
